INTRODUCTION
Advanced CNA Training Program Includes:

All materials will be provided on loan to each member.  There is a refundable $10.00 good faith
deposit and promissory note to return all materials in good condition required.  

21 Typical Tasks & Procedures
Check List:

1.    To wash and to scrub your hands
2.    To measure and to record a client’s weight using a scale or balance
3.    To provide and to assist a client with use of bedpan
4.    To dress a client with affected arm
5.    To provide mouth care (client with toothbrush)
6.    To provide mouth care (client with dentures)
7.    To transfer a client from bed to a wheelchair
8.    To make an occupied bed
9.    To feed a client or resident unable to feed themselves
10.  To perform passive Range Of Motion (ROM) activity for Upper body/extremities
11.  To perform passive Range Of Motion (ROM) activity for Lower body/extremities
12.  To measure and to record a client’s urinary output
13.  To provide a client with a partial bath
14.  To provide certain related foot care to client
15.  To provide certain perineal related care to client
16.  To show knowledge on ambulation
17.  To provide certain catheter care
18.  To measure and to record a client’s radial artery pulse rate (BPM) while counting and then
recording respiration rate as well
19.  To position a client on their side
20.  To provide certain hair and fingernail care
21.  To measure and to record a client’s blood pressure with an instrument called a stethoscope and
mechanical medical instruments called sphygmomanometers (blood pressure cuff) at brachial artery

It remains your responsibility to perform procedures exactly as State examiners and others need to
observe the manner of those procedures to be performed in.  This is just a basic checklist of typical
tasks.  

The written or “didactic” test procedures obviously must be observed as well as those clinical or
“hands-on” related procedures you will perform for testing and in actual practice in the health care
arena.

Each of these 21 tasks will be separately discussed in your Advanced CNA program.
